Coles Flagstone is a staged masterplan development located within the Greater Flagstone Priority Development Area (PDA). Hutchinson Builders were appointed as the head contractor which saw the Coles tenancy open for trading in March 2020.

When Cr Paul Pisasale opened the new Coles Superstore in Ipswich it signalled a return of the retail giant to the city centre. The Brisbane Street store was totally destroyed in the Jan 2011 floods and required a re-thinking of the site. Alongside Coles Group Property Development we recreated a new presence for the site, resistant to the type of flooding seen throughout the city. 

The Queensland Health Department engaged Hutchinson Builders for a 1403 car facility with integrated child care following backlash over lack of staff parking.  Built over the tram depot tracks, the building provides a high level linkage between the adjacent busway station and the rest of the hospital campus. 

The eight split level building has a removable long span, deep-V roofing system offering opportunity for another two half-levels.  The screen facade offers ventilation and reduces light into the surrounding ward and treatment buildings.

Hexagon’s offices and industrial manufacturing base was resumed by the Government, requiring a relocation to a new premises within 6 months.

Alongside Hexagon and Schiavello we delivered on a fit-out bound by a tight final programme, finished to an impeccable standard expected by Hexagon staff and customers alike.  The premises catered to a mix of 96 office-based and manufacturing-based staff. 

After having completed the refurbishment of Eagle Street Pier, POWE Architects set about creating a new wine bar space for the owner of the Il Centro restaurant. The Mr & Mrs G bar stands on the edge of the pier overlooking the river and takes much of its form from cues in the existing art deco inspired pier buildings while also expressing the modern steel and glass approach of our previous insertions into this precinct.

After the 2011 floods destroyed the BoysTown administration headquarters at Milton, POWE Architects mobilised a team to assist with the clean up and over the following 9 months restored and reinvigorated the offices and counselling facilities at a cost of $1.7m. The centre was reopened in time for the 50th anniversary celebrations. POWE Architects designed, documented and administered the rebuilding works. We have also completed a number of satellite office fit-outs.

Runaway Lagoons is part of the former Cable Ski World recreation park and incorporates a large man-made lake and parkland, developed by Australand. The scale of the houses compliment the water location and respect the natural beauty of the Reserve and Hinterland. These relationships were an integral part of the site master planning.

The first multi-storey apartment building constructed in this pocket of Milton, between the river and the railway. Milton Edge is a ten-storey apartment building with landscaped recreation areas and associated car parking. A total of sixty-four apartments are provided in the main building with seven two-level townhouses to Manning Street and three to Walsh Street. The townhouses provide a linkage between the apartment tower, the character residential streetscape and strong links between the respective internal and external spaces

Carlisle 40 Apartments is a 19 unit apartment block located in close proximity to the PA Hospital on Brisbane’s Southside. A combination of one and two bedroom units makes up the development which offers Northern views to the Brisbane CBD.

Goodna Marketplace is located in a prime location, just off the Ipswich motorway.  The centre was in a state of disrepair, and POWE was tasked with revitalising the aged town centre to maximise value for the client, tenants and shoppers alike. A minimalistic approach underpinned the project, and the resulting works were delivered with efficiency and clarity.
