John Butler is an experienced building designer and project manager, with nearly a decade of experience working on a range of building types. He’s been the leading role in developments such as Archiville’s 60 unit dual use accommodation complex – Epoch Live & Stay Apartments. John’s involvement in this landmark project included the design and management, from conception through to approval. He also acted as the client relationship manager and was involved in land marketing, networking and administration.
John has also delivered dozens of other successful design projects in that time. His expertise goes beyond conventional architectural qualifications, with over 15 years of business management experience and hundreds of completed building applications, design/documentation projects and energy efficiency assessments.
John enjoys travelling to new places and exploring the buildings and spaces within different communities. He recently visited London and Paris and was awed by the experience of visiting historically significant pieces of architecture. He likes to bring diversity into his designs while paying respect to the needs and values of the end users and local community.
When relaxing, John enjoys doing crosswords, swimming and building Lego with his daughter, Isabella. He enjoys film and television, particularly movies with quirky characters and stand-up comedy. John cheers for the local Brisbane Broncos and the Queensland Maroons, but is also an avid Formula one supporter. For inspiration, all industries inspire him including industrial, automotive, fashion and of course architectural.
Powe Architects has also taken on board student architect Simon Rocco, who was partnered with us through the 2017 SONA Mentor Program. He has recently completed his third year of Architectural Studies at QUT, and is planning on completing his degree at the end of 2019 after an exchange to Milan.
Simon’s craving for learning a range of architectural styles made him eager to join Powe Architects, with the team delivering a range of architectural styles on current projects. The team’s individual experience and a vast array of projects also excites him, with all members having worked on unique and ground-breaking projects.
Simon’s creative mind lies in a range of disciplines. Architecturally, his muses include Glenn Murcutt and Richard Leplastrier for their authentically focussed designs. An accompanying passion for cars helps guide his interest in user focussed design. His love of photography stems from his desire to capture his awe of the natural world. He also is completing university units in industrial design, giving him greater insight into product development and marketing.
Powe Architects are proud to welcome both John and Simon as part of POWE team, and we look forward to seeing what our growing team will produce on projects to come.
