Matthew Johnson

Managing Director

With 20 years’ experience as part of the leadership team of POWE Architects, Matthew’s deep understanding of the Building Solutions that Work for You commitment across all of our market sectors is a key part of our unique success in the marketplace.

Matthew and his team approach each project solution from inception through to completion with fundamental focuses on client feasibility, operator useability and community acceptability, and contractor buildability.

Matthew’s clients come from a range of industry sectors including retail, mixed-use, commercial, multi-residential and senior living on scales from $1-100M.
Some of the best outcomes Matthew has achieved for clients were on the following projects:
– Leading the design team on Pellicano Living’s Bowen Hills Apartments to develop a very high level of certainty and bring the project back into feasibility with tight constraints.
– Collaborating with Mainbrace and their services sub-contractors on Coles Rochedale to fully resolve a complex services system before it was built
– Delivering the Town Square Redbank Plains shopping centre with FKG bringing traditional documented services into a resolved BIM environment. The project went on to win the Property Council of Australia’s Queensland Retail Property of the Year Award for Excellence in Design, Sub Regional Centres

If you’d like to discuss how BIM could help you save time and money or your next project, or design ideas for your next project, get in touch with Matthew at matthew@powearchitects.com

When Matthew is not at work, you can usually catch him spending time with his family, teaching both kids and adults to sail at Humpybong Yacht Club, volunteering as a State Level Race Officer and Judge at sailing regattas, or following ETNZ in The America’s Cup because no Australians can afford to pay our sailors to stay here!
