Groundbreaking MKT SQR Deception Bay

Market Square Deception Bay Shopping Centre redevelopment works are progressing rapidly and the Powe Architects team is well into the delivery stages. At a ground-breaking ceremony held on 20 June 2018, Mintus Retail and Residential director, Ben Stewart said construction is due to commence 18 July 2018.

Powe Architects has been working with Mintus since September 2017, developing the design and documentation for a new early learning centre offering space for 100 children and an additional 3,300 sqm of retail space consisting of an outdoor dining precinct, medical centre, diagnostic imagery, specialty shops, gym and fast food outlet with drive through.

The planned redevelopment of the MKT SQR Shopping Centre represents a significant investment by Mintus Properties in the future of Deception Bay, providing essential new community and medical facilities.

Mintus Properties purchased the centre in 2016, representing their first venture into the Queensland retail market. The existing development consists of approximately 13,600 sqm of retail space anchored by a Woolworths supermarket, Dan Murphy’s, the Deception Bay Tavern and a Service Station. The centre also has space for 50 specialty tenants on the six-hectare site.
